California E-Bike Incentive Program

Find Out Whether You’re Eligible For The California E-Bike Subsidy
On April 29th, 2025 at 5:00pm, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) will open its second application window for income-eligible Californians to receive up to $2,000 toward the purchase of a new electric bike (e-bike) through the California E-Bike Incentive Project.
This is an e-bike voucher program through which low-income individuals everywhere in the state can buy an e-bike! By participating in this program, you can apply for a point-of-sale voucher that provides a maximum of $2000 to cover the cost of buying a new e-bike.
We highly encourage you to check in advance whether you are eligible here, and prepare any necessary documents you will need to complete the application, if you're selected to complete the application from the waiting room.
The State of California launched the California E-Bike Program last December and closed the application portal in less than an hour due to the high demand. For this round, the state is offering $2 million or approximately 1,000 vouchers to eligible applicants who will be selected at random to help ensure a fair distribution of vouchers.
Some commuters are unable to take an e-bike from their doorstep to their workplace; there may be portions of their commute for which an e-bike is not the solution. If you are one of these commuters, bear in mind that pairing an e-bike with Caltrain may help you close gaps for the first and last legs of your commute in a cost-effective manner.

Some of you may be uncertain about whether an e-bike will work for you and hesitate to buy one. Bear in mind that Manzanita Works runs Essential Wheels™, a loaner program, through which qualified essential workers can borrow an e-bike for free to try it out for their commute.
