Caltrain: faster & more frequent

Caltrain: faster & more frequent

Wave goodbye to Caltrain as you knew it. Say hello to fully electrified passenger service on Caltrain running between San Francisco and San Jose with faster and more frequent service!

This weekend marks the launch of new trains and schedule, welcome news for many of you in our Manzanita Transit program using Caltrain Pass Forward cards to support your commute by train.

This new service has a total of 16 stations receiving trains every 15 to 20 minutes during peak hours. Where it previously took 65+ minutes to ride from San Francisco to San Jose, the commute is now under an hour. For those of you with weekend work shifts, trains will be every 30 minutes compared to the hourly service we have known.

Caltrain has shared that the new vehicles offer enhanced amenities, including customer-facing Wi-Fi, onboard digital displays, power outlets at each forward-facing seat, energy-efficient lighting, baby-changing tables in the bathroom, security cameras, an improved climate control system and expanded storage under the cantilevered seats.

Manzanita Works has a few reallocated passes still available to distribute for this calendar year so if you are an essential worker for whom a pass would help support your commute, please email Lee on our team at lee@manzanita.works to start the application process.

"Receiving the GoPass has been a HUGE benefit for me. Being able to ride the train consistently was extremely helpful and I appreciate the work Manzanita Works did in making that happen. I had been driving, but now I bike+public transit!"
